Make It Monday.... 4th of July

We had a lot of fun making red,  white, and blue projects today.
1st we made red jello.

Then we made daddy breakfast casseroles... not part of our red, white, and blue projects. :)

Next, we made firework shirts... we combined a few ideas from Pinterest.  We found $3 shirts at Walmart, some cute star material, and blue and red puff paint.  We were going to use pipe cleaners, but discovered bendy straws work better for the fireworks and are less messy!

I put a piece of cardboard under the front of their shirts, and tied two bendy straws together with a ponytail holder which made them easier to use.
We did 1 color and let it dry before doing the next color.

While waiting on our first color to dry we made firework rings from this site...
click on it to see their directions... we didn't need to modify at all

TaDa  They are cuter in person, and the girls Love them!

Then we went back to our shirts to add our second color.

While waiting for them to dry, we made blue jello to pour on top of our red.

Our finished projects!!  I tied a bow on the shoulders and can't wait for them to dry.  The girls are so proud of their creations.  We stuck a flag in our red and blue jello, and made red star ice cubes for our blue Gatorade.  We are Very patriotic!!

Are you ready for Independence Day?

Sunday @ Section 1

After church, we decided to do a picnic at Section 1, and we're off... if only it were that easy.  Those of you with kids know it doesn't quite go like that. :)  After changing clothes, loading snacks, getting mud boots, back for socks, getting sunglasses, and the right drinks we were off!!

This happened more than once.  :)

Daddy also always has an agenda to "look" at lots of things, so there's plenty of loading and unloading.

catching frogs

do you see him?

Daddy got one, and

Livie got one!!

We then went on to West Park for ice cream, but the bait shop was closed.

So, we decided to cool off a different way.  It started off innocent enough, and then...

Needless to say, we took them home in their panties.  Good thing I grabbed that towel.  I had actually thought it might be protecting us from rain!

Hope you had a great Sunday Fun Day!!

Summer Fun & our Recommendations

How is your summer going?  Honestly, other than being enormous, swollen and sweaty (some people say you're glowing... they're lying it's sweat) ours is going great.  We're checking off our list double time this year.

Slip n Slide fun...

New water bottles to encourage hydration....

Catching butterflies, fireflies and right now we have two caterpillars in their chrysalis...

Enormous Dandelion Blowing...

Did you stay up for the Honey Moon a while back?  Well, I kept the girls up and to be honest... not that impressed.

It was big and beautiful, but not THAT different from the regular full moon.

The girls did have a great time though.

Now for a couple of recommendations... If you haven't been to a drive in, GO!  We love going!  It's great family fun, and if you live around us we like

Starlite Drive-In very family friendly!
Throw the mattress in the back or open up the mini van...

We've also had lots of fun with glow sticks.  Cheap and entertaining.  If you're not up late enough, use them in the basement for cool down time and play hide and seek with the lights off. :)
Please ask Jed about his firefly dance to attract female fireflies!

We made bouncy balls and lemonade and had our own stands in the backyard.

Lots of trampoline fun....

We've also done sewing camp, East Lake swimming, West Park hiking, softball, Turn back Tuesday $1.50 movies at the palace (definitely recommend).  What are we missing?  What should we add to our list that is good cheap summer fun?
We haven't been to the zoo or botanica yet.

Healthy Heart

Guess whose heart looks healthy?
Our little guy's!!  Yes, Jed and I spent the afternoon at Children's Mercy Hospital looking at every single possible angle of our little boy's heart,

and Great News...
No signs of any major complications... nothing that would have my baby boarding the air ambulance in August.  YEA!!!  We are thrilled!  His heart will be checked again when he is born for minor complications, and he could still have to have heart surgery, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

A genuine thank you for all of your prayers, thoughts and messages.
We are definitely rejoicing today!

Philippians 4:4
Rejoice in the Lord always.  I will say it again:
Rejoice!

Prayer Warriors Needed

Hello All,

We have some exciting news, we have an appointment at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.  A pediatric cardiologist will be doing an echocardiogram on our Baby's heart Wednesday!!  Here's where YOU come in, we have a 2 tier prayer :)
1. We are praying that our Baby's heart is healthy and strong!
2.  If there is something to find, we find it at this appointment!

You see, we will deliver our little guy either in Wichita or Kansas City... and when I say "WE", I clearly mean ME!!  If our baby's heart is healthy, and we do not see signs of any other concerns, I will have a C-section at Wesley in Wichita; however, if he is delivered and there are problems, they will MediFlight him to Children's Mercy in KC.  Do you see where I'm going with this?  Yes, I will be stuck in a hospital in Wichita while my baby is flown to Kansas City, and I will of course send Jed to KC.  I'm the planner... not sure he knows that yet! :)
Therefore, we are not hoping to find something wrong with his heart, but that if there is something to find, we find it NOW so that we may deliver in Kansas City, and I can be present for surgery.  We can all be together to support each other.  You cannot deliver at Children's unless your baby would need immediate surgery.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers!  It is getting close, and it is a good thing otherwise Jed will need to be widening our doors around this joint!! :)

We are on the 2 month countdown, and cannot wait to meet our baby boy!!
